Corner Flip Card

Hi everyone, today I want to show you how to make a Corner Flip card. I have been meaning to make up this card for a while as it makes for a fun card AND it is so easy to make.

When you open this card, you have a little pop up and how cute is that? I decided to make this card up as a Mother’s Day card because my mom loves Peonies and I know she will love this card. I am also really hoping that by Mother’s Day, I will actually be able to see her in person. Time will tell…

Before you begin, first, create a triangle template from a piece of scrap paper which is 2 ¾” high x  3 ½” long as shown.

This will make it easier to position and you won’t have to worry about exact measurements as you proceed.

Now, Stamp your flowers on the scrap paper, with the Tuxedo Memento ink pad from the Prized Peony bundle for both the front and inside of the card. I used Petal Pink card stock for the flowers on the front of the card and Basic White card stock for the flowers on the inside of the card. Colour your flowers with the Blender pens. You can now die cut them out and set aside.

To assemble this card;

Score your card base at 4 ¼” along the long side and fold and crease with a bone folder then turn folded card so it is in a landscape position.

Place the triangle template in the top left corner and score along the edge of the template so the score line is on both sides of the card base. The Simply Scored scoring tool is perfect for this as it gives a nice deep score, but if you don’t have one, you can score on your paper trimmer however it won’t be as pronounced so you may have to go over it more than once

Gently fold the creased triangle on both the front and back of the card towards the inside of the card and crease again with the bone folder. You have now created the “Pop Up” portion of the card. How easy was that right?

For the Front and bottom inside of card – Place your template over the DSP & card stock in the same way you did when you scored the card base.  Line it up on your paper trimmer and cut away that corner piece.  If you are using a directional pattern, make sure it is lined up correctly on your card base before cutting.

For the top inside of the card – You will need to reverse the triangle template so flip it over and place along the bottom left corner, making sure your patterned paper lines up the way you want it when the card is opened. Place it your paper trimmer and cut away that corner piece. The inside papers should look like this

Line up your pieces of designer series paper and adhere to the front and top inside of the cards making sure you are inside the score lines. The triangle pieces will be too large, so you will need to trim the wider side by approximately ½” before placing on your card.  Place and adhere the triangles to the front and top inside of the cards.

For the Bottom portion – Before adhering (because mistakes happen) stamp your sentiment to the inside bottom part of the card along with any other decorations you might like to add.  Adhere it to the inside of the card base.  Trim and adhere the triangle to the bottom inside card as well.

Now it’s time to decorate. Using the top and left side of your card as your guide, line up your flowers along the diagonal line on the front of the card. You want to make sure it will be able to fit in the envelope so ensure they are not too high.   You could also place your template on your table top so you can easily see if you go over the card  edges.  Once you have your decorations in place, adhere to the front of the card along the diagonal line, taking care not to add adhesive to the part that pops up in the cut out triangle portion. I adhered the two bottom flowers directly to the angled portion then added dimensionals to the flower in the center so it stand up a little.

To decorate the inside flip portion, place your decoration on the bottom triangle and test it out so it will close properly.  Once you are happy with how it looks, adhere the flower to just the bottom portion to the triangle so the top portion will pop up and it won’t interfere when you open the card

Stamp your sentiment on scrap Basic white paper and punch out using the Label Me Lovely Punch. Punch out a second label from a piece of Old Olive card stock. Adhere the two together so they overlap a little and you can see both labels. Turn over and adhere a piece of ribbon to the back of your label. (I folded the ribbon in half). Add dimmensionals to the back and adhere to the front of the card. I also added a couple of gemstones to the sentiment for a little extra bling.

You now have a beautiful and unique card.
