Today I wanted to show you how to make a Book Binder card. This card can be made as a portrait or a landscape card. It can be used as a regular card or you can make it into a gift card which just makes it more versatile. For my first card I used the Pampered Pets stamps and Designer Series Paper. I find these animals adorable. To see them online, visit my online store by clicking here.
To make this card as a Landscape Card

Take your card stock base and score at 5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″ on the long side. Fold card base in half and crease with your bone folder. Fold the front of the card back towards the center at the second score line. This gives you that book binder part. I apologize for the blurry picture, not sure what happed there.
If you are making a regular card, add glue to that small folded portion and close your card to seal it by pressing lightly down. If you want to make a gift card holder, than only adhere the top and bottom portion so you can slip a gift card into the middle of that folded piece (pic shown below)

Adhere the Pampered Pets DSP pieces to their corresponding mats and then add them to the front of the card. I punched out a label using a retired punch but you could use any of the label punches you have in your stash. I also punched out another label in Crumb Cake. TIP: After stamping my sentiment, I cut the crumb cake label in half lengthwise and adhered it to the back of my stamped image to provide a mat behind it. It’s a great way to extend how your punches work.
For the front of my card I fussy cut out one of the Kitty cats from the DSP then glued it to a scrap of crumb cake and fussy cut it out again. I like how the crumb cake matting makes the kitty cat stand out in front of the busier background Designer Series paper. Adding the matting is optional of course, but I like how it looks. I also added dimmensionals to the back of the sentiment and the kitty cat. I finished off this card by wrapping the smaller panel with some ribbon and just tied it in a knot.

For the inside, I stamped my sentiment and also stamped another kitty cat on the inside, then adhered it to the inside of the card.
The picture shows how the inside of the card could be used as a gift card.

To make this card as a Portrait Card

Basically the card is made the exact same way as the card above. The measurements change but the process is the same. In this example I used some retired Designer Series paper featuring the beautiful butterflies and just fussy cut them out. I love how older products can be used with current and new products from Stampin’ Up! The background is from the In Colour 2019-2022 Designer Series Paper. I love how the colours match perfectly with the card stock.

To create the “binder portion, score your card base at 4 1/4″ and again at 5 1/4” and adhere as noted above. The inside sentiment was from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set and the butterfly was part of the new Butterfly Bouquet Bundle.
TIP: Although the new Butterfly stamp features 6 very detailed butterflies, I used my sponge dauber to only stamp the one butterfly before stamping.
So easy to do…
