Curtain Card

I haven’t made this type of card in a while but when I saw this card from from Beth’s Paper Cuts on Pinterest, it inspired me to make this card again. I have made this type of card made before but not with that pulled back look. I love how the curtain looks, pulled back with the ribbon on this card.

I am a big fan of Eden’s Garden collection of products so decided to use the lovely Designer Series paper for this card. It goes so well with the Soft Succulent card stock and with the gold accents in the paper, I thought it would make a lovely curtain

To make this card

Score the card base at 4 1/4″ then fold and burnish with your bone folder. I love the nice crease this provides. Adhere the piece of DSP for the card front and set aside.

Score the Curtain DSP at 1″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/2″, 3″, 4″ and 4 1/2″. Fold the paper in an accordion fold. Think Mountain, Valley, Mountain, Valley folds. The 1″ folds will become the flat curtain part and the half inch folds become the folded back or bunched up look.

Once you have them all folded and burnished, open your paper up. To create the diagonal cut, position the bottom of the paper on your paper trimmer so the bottom right corner is on the cutting line and angle your paper so the top right corner is at 1 1/2″ and trim. This will give you that diagonal cut so when your paper is folded up, it looks like the bottom of the curtain. Once this is done, fold up your paper again. To create the pulled back curtain look, cut your paper horizontally about 1″ where you want that pulled back look to go. In Hindsight, I think I cut mine a little too high, if I did it again, I would make it a little bit lower. Flip your paper over and fold back the cut portion. Crease all your folds again. Flip back and tie your ribbon around the folds and tie a bow to create the curtain tie back. Flip your curtain over again and add a strip of Tear and Tape across the folds to hold them in place. Add another piece across the top of the curtain and adhere to the card front.

Optional: I also added a drop or two of multipurpose glue to the inside of the folds above the ribbon but left the bottom folds alone so they stand up a bit.

For my sentiment, I stamped my greeting on Basic white and used my double oval punch to punch it out. I also punched out the larger scalloped oval in Soft Succulent for the mat.

To Decorate the front, I used the the small leaf die from the Bundle and cut it out in gold foil. It just matched up with the gold in the “curtain” and the gold shimmer ribbon. I also used scraps of paper to cut out the the leafy ends of the sentiment label I then applied them to the back of the scalloped oval.

After adhering the two ovals together, I added it to the card front with dimmensional’s.

For the inside of my card, I used the large floral image and greeting from the stamp set. I added a bit of leaves at the top, just because. I really like how this stamp provides shading and dimension
