Sailing Home

This is my first sampler and I am really pleased with the overall look of it. I used the Sailing Home Stamp Set along with the coordinating Designer Series paper to make this lovely framed home decor piece.

Sailing home.

Project Recipe:

Paper cutting
Back
Whisper White Card stock cut at 9″ x 9″
Designer Series Paper (DSP) at 7 x 7″Squares
Whisper White – cut 2 x 2 ”
Night of Navy – cut 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″Rectangle
Whisper White – cut 2″ x 4 1/4″
Night of Navy – cut at 2 1/8 x 4 5/8″

Leaving a 1″ border around, I glued the DSP to the centre of the Whisper White backing. Although you cannot see a lot of it, the backing has a sailing theme to it. I just love it. Each square and the rectangle were then stamped from the Sailing Home Stamp set using Night of Navy ink. The centre square was also cut from the DSP and all squares were matted using Tom bow liquid glue. I love the combination of Navy Blue with the brownish DSP.

After positioning all the squares (I eyeballed it) I glued them down and then added the trinkets. I cut out the Wheel and the compass needle from coordinating die’s with my big shot. I then adhered them to the the picture using mini dimensional’s so they would pop up a little. Finally, I fuzzy cut three swallows from the the bird ballad DSP and adhered them using mini dimensional’s to make the birds appear like they were flying.

In hindsight, because I always look to see what I could do better the next time. I would cut out the wheel in Night of Navy card stock so it is better highlighted. I would also change the sentiments around so that the sentiment “Set Sail in the direction of your dreams” was at the top and “Let hope be your anchor though the storms of Life” be at the bottom. After all Dreams should fly and the anchor is our home and/or family which keeps us centred or anchored. It should be at the bottom. Anyways, I hope you like it.

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I would love for you to join my team so that I can help you explore your creativity. I host small monthly classes and would love to have you join me. Should you wish to order any of the supplies listed below so that you can make your own sampler, please contact me or go online using the following link

We need the tools to do the job right

Whether in the workplace or at home crafting, we cannot operate without the tools to do the job and still produce a quality product or service. In the workplace, you might use various office equipment but as a crafter, I rely on a few tools to create my cards or to make 3D paper craft items.

I use my Big Shot to emboss paper or to cut out images. Without this tool, I would be hand cutting out images which takes too much time and my time is important.

I use my envelope punch board to create envelopes in 66 various sizes. This great tool is also used to make 3D paper gift packages as well.

Another tool which is invaluable is the gift bag punch. This can be tailored to make custom gift bags so you don’t need to purchase them.

Each of these tools just take a few minutes to use but as mentioned previously, time matters and what would we do without them.

However sadly these tools won’t be for sale much longer. After June 3rd sale or while supplies last, these tools will no longer be available through Stampin’ Up!, so grab them while you can and you won’t regret it.
