Fall is approaching and these beautiful sunflowers only bloom for a few weeks from late summer through to September. I happen to live within a short drive from a Sunflower field and it is such a beautiful sight to drive by, don’t you think?
Well with the launch of the mini catalogue and Sale-a-bration going on until the end of September, we sometimes forget about all the beautiful stamps from the Annual Catalogue. Today I am revisiting an old favourite to show a card I made using the Celebrating Sunflowers Stamp and Die’s. I made this card for a friend as a thank you for some much appreciated help. I wanted to acknowledge that.
The Celebrate Sunflowers stamp and dies are a wonderful and very easy way to showcase these beautiful flowers. When you stamp this flower, all the intricate details show up. You can then die cut out the image of the two flowers and leaves but you can also cut out the flower and leaf petal outlines for added interest.
To make this card
I took an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2′ piece of Basic White card stock and scored it at 4 1/4″. After folding the card base in half, I glued a 2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Wood Designer Series paper to the bottom of the card. This DSP is retired but I still have some in stock and it goes well with the flower colour.
On some scrap basic white, I stamped the large flower image in Crushed Curry ink then using several different blender pens, I coloured the flower. I then die cut out the image.
I also die cut out the petal outline and some of the leaf branches (they look like wheat to me) in gold foil. It’s a little tricky to line up all the many petals but they do line up perfectly. Once I did, I adhered it to the flower. By positioning my flower, I was able to position the branches and glued them down. I then added dimensionals to the back of my flower to pop it up on the card.
To finish my card, I stamped my sentiment on Bumble Bee card stock then heat embossed it with gold. After trimming around the sentiment, I added it to the card front as well. I then added a few gold embellishments to my card front, stamped the envelope with the smaller flower.
