Diagonal Joy Fold Card

May 24, 2024
by Susan Beale

24 May

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Today I would like to show you a fun fold card I haven’t made in a while. It is called a Diagonal Joy Fold Card.

For this card I used Wild Wheat as my card base with Lemon Lolly for my matting. The lovely patterned Paper is from the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper

To make this card, all you need to do is fold and burnish your main card base which is 5 1/2′ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. Once you have folded your card, open it up and using your paper trimmer, cut a diagonal line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner.

For the Inside of the card, I layered Lemon Lolly card stock then added the lovely newsprint paper as my background.

For the card front triangle I took a piece of Lemon Lolly card stock and cut a triangle from the top left to the bottom right and did the same with a different piece of the Nature’s Sweetness special designer series paper which is just a little smaller. I then adhered them to the front of card base.

The mini card is 3″ x 8″ and scored at 4″ and folded in half. It is also matted in Lemon Lolly. Glue it to the inside of the card but make sure the open flap can close over the triangle on the front of the card. As you can see in my picture it is bumped right up against it. I think I should have gone just a smidgen higher when I glued the mini card to my card base. It works but just barely.

To decorate the front, I stamped my greeting on the Basic White then used a background stamp to add some interest to the paper. I then stamped and die cut the floral image on a scrap piece of white card stock and then glued it to the front of the card. I didn’t use dimensional’s because I didn’t want to add any more bulk to the card. I then wrapped the mini card front with some linen thread to complete my card. Although I didn’t add any gems to this card because both the printed papers have a bit of glitter to them, I did add some wink of Stella to the floral image in the front.
