3 Panel Cards

Have you seen the Thoughtful Journey patterned paper yet? It is gorgeous and is filled with various coloured images which make wonderful backgrounds on cards. I absolutely love the dreamy watercolour look of the paper and I am not the only one. Sadly, this package of paper is so popular that it is currently out of stock. However, Stampin’ Up! assures us it will be back in stock on June 24th so you may purchase it at that time if you are interested.

The Thoughtful Journey paper (item #163303) is just $17 and it comes in a package of 48 sheets. You get a total of 4 each of 12 double sided designs in a variety of colours. You cannot go wrong with that!

Each sheet is 6″ x 6″ and is double sided with Floral images on one side and coloured backgrounds on the back.

I want to show you how used this lovely paper to create 3 cards. These cards are called a Three Panel Card, and each card used a different sheet of paper. Now, you could just add one of the sheets to a card base, add a greeting and your card would look lovely. However, to add a little interest to the card front, a Three Panel Card is just one of many ways to do so.

For these cards, the side panels are 1″ x 4″ and matted on Basic Black card stock. The middle panel is 3 1/4″ x 4″ is popped up on Dimensional’s to add some interest. My only word of caution is that you cut the panel in order to create a continuous image across the card front. The greeting is embossed in white and of course a few In-Color Shimmer Gems were added to the front to match the card base for a little extra bling. For the inside of my cards, I added a strip of the same paper to coordinate with the card front.

Here is another example of the same card, using a different patterned paper. The process of making this card is the same, however, on this card, the panels are the same length as the Basic Black matting for a slightly different look. Using a different patterned paper, changes how the card looks as well.

For my third example with yet another different floral image, I used Soft Sea Foam as my card base. Just looking at all these cards is very calming. As with the others, the process of making this card is the same.

For each of the cards, I used the So Sincere stamp set (item #162283) for my greetings. This set includes 11 different sentiments to suit any occasion.

I particularly like the Vertical Happy Birthday greeting which is a little bit different than your usual greetings.
