Stack, Slice and Shuffle cards

This technique has been around for a long time and it’s a quick way to make multiple cards at the same time. It’s also a great way to use up your designer series paper. For the cards below, I used three different pieces of 2024-2026 In Color designer series, cut them at an angle and then created these three cards. Read on and I’ll show you how I created these cards.

Start with three pieces of 5″ x 3 3/4″ of patterned paper, in coordinating colours

STACK – I stack all three coordinating pieces of designer series paper and placed them in my Stampin’ Up! paper trimmer.

CUT – I cannot speak for other trimmers but the paper trimmer from Stampin’ Up! is great for cutting 3 pieces of designer series paper at the same time. I didn’t measure anything, just made some random angle cuts on all three pieces at the same time.

SHUFFLE – Take the top piece of one of the cut piles and move it to the bottom. Take the top two pieces from the second pile and move them to the bottom and leave the third pile alone.

You should now have three piles with all three designs showing.

Now cut three pieces of Basic white card stock at 5 1/4″ x 4″ and lay them out side by side. Remove the top piece from each pile and adhere to the first piece.

Take the top piece from each of the three piles and adhere to the second piece

Adhere the remaining pieces to the third piece.

Note: Place them first before adhering to ensure the white is equally spaced. As you can see, the middle one isn’t very even.

Adhere to your card base and you are ready to decorate the front.

For my card fronts, I stamped my greeting in the coordinating Shy Shamrock ink pad and punched it out. Note both the greeting and the punch are retired. I then added some of the lovely Shy Shamrock ribbon to the back and adhered my greeting to the card base with dimensional’s. I then added the adorable Paper Butterfly Accents to the front and finished it off with some In Color Resin Dots.

How easy was that?

Here is another example of this same technique however, this time, I cut them into four pieces.

Again, it was all done without a lot of measuring and who doesn’t love that?

For these cards, I used the lovely Unbounded Beauty designer series paper to make these cards in the same way, using the same 5″ x 3 3/4″ sized paper.

I cut the paper vertically at 2 1/2″ then cut the two strips into two pieces. With the wider strip I cut it in half and the second strip was cut a little longer so it didn’t line up with the other larger squares.

I only shuffled the three biggest pieces in the same way I did the cards above. When placing them on the card stock, I took the smallest rectangle and placed it in the bottom right corner so it matched with the top right corner.

For my greeting, I used the Thanks and Beyond Dies which is an add-on available only to Paper Pumpkin Subsribers but you could use whatever you have on hand to create your greetings. I added a few In Color glimmer dots

Although not shown, I added a 4 1/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White to the inside of all of these cards then adhered a 1/4″ strip of patterned paper for some added interest.
