No one ever wants to make or give a sympathy card, but telling someone you are thinking of them during their time of need is important. It lets them know they are not alone.
Sadly, my supply of sympathy cards has been depleted lately. It seems to go in waves, don’t you think? I never want to make up a sympathy card in a rush and always like to have some on hand for when they are needed.
So today I decided to make up a single sympathy card design in five different colours. This way I have more on hand and by making them all the same, it saved time to mass produce. I made each card using the lovely 2021-2023 In Colors for both the card stock, ink pads and Designer Series Paper. I love how it all coordinates beautifully.
TO MAKE THIS CARD
Take your card base and score at 4 1/4″ then fold in half and score with your bone folder to give it a good crease and set aside for now.
For the card front I embossed one of the Basic White pieces with the Tasteful Texture embossing folder. I love this embossed design for the subtle design it makes. It just adds a little detail that makes a card front look so much better than a plain card front. After embossing, I adhered the strip of Designer Series Paper to the card front, leaving just a little white around it to act as a border. I stamped the Dahlia image to each corner of the smaller Basic white piece, allowing the flower to flow off the page then adhered it to the matting. I than adhered it to the front of the card flush, no dimensionals as I didn’t want this card to be too thick. Once all was assembled, I added it to the card base.
I then stamped my sentiment using the Delicate Dahlia’s stamp set on Basic white with the matching Soft Succulent ink pad. I just love this stamp set and I am so happy I took advantage of that Sale-a-bration promotion to get this stamp set. Sadly the sale is over and it is no longer available. I punched it out with a retired punch. If you don’t have this punch, you can use any punch or die cut you have on hand. To add a little colour around the edges, I used a sponge dauber and sponged around the edges. It’s a simple way to make it stand out a little bit more.
The sentiment was added it to the front of the card with dimensional’s for a little bit of added pop.
For the inside of the card I stamped my sentiment using the Heal your Heart Sale-a-bration stamp set from last year and another Dahlia on the bottom corner.
I then did the same on the front of the envelope adding matching DSP to the envelope flap and trimming it to fit.
Here are all other cards I made using the 2021-2023 In Color Designer Series paper. Sadly I was out of the gorgeous Fresh Freesia card stock so I used a gray card base for that one. I just love that colour so will be ordering more soon.
