Playing Catch up – Celebrate Sunflowers

Hi everyone,

FAST FACT: Over 2 billion cards are sent out every year.

That’s a lot of cards and just think of the smiles those cards generate. It’s a great way to stay in touch with people you may not see in person as often as you would like. For the cost of a stamp, you are letting them know you are thinking about them and they are not alone. It’s a great boost to an individual’s mental health as well

Some of you know that I sell my cards online through www.ottawaartisans.com. This is a wonderful website filled with local artisans selling all hand crafted items. If you get the chance, check it out. Well I recently had a request from one of my repeat customers to bring back a couple of cards I had made in the past, which have since sold out. So this past week, I have been making a few cards to restock.

The first cards I made were from the CELEBRATE SUNFLOWERS Stamp and Die set. This set just makes me smile since I love the large floral image. I used woodgrain paper as a partial background, then stamped the floral image and leaves in Basic white. I then coloured them with my blender pens before cutting them out with the dies, which line up perfectly. I also cut out the floral petal outline in gold along with some sprigs. They look like wheat to me. After adhering everything to the front of the card, I stamped my greetings on some Bumble Bee card stock than embossed it in gold so it matches with the floral petal outlines and the gold sprigs. The insides were left blank so unique messages could be added when needed.

Again, as requested, I also made these two cards using the WAY TO GOAT stamp set. These adorable goats are just too cute and are filled with personality. The sentiments included are adorable as well. In particular, I love the saying I got you a cake… but I ate it. How cute is that? For these cards, I used the 2021-2023 In Colour Designer Series Paper as my background then stamped the images on Basic White card stock before trimming to fit. I matted them with black because I like how it makes the images just pop out a little bit more.

While I was at it, I made up this birthday card using the new EVER EDEN Designer Series Paper for the card front and the Artisically Inked Bundle set. I added adhesive sheets to the back of my gold foil before I die cut the lovely floral image. I just love the detail of these dies, it is so intricate. The adhesive sheets make it easy to adhere the image to the front of the card without any glue getting in the way. If you don’t have these sheets, I highly recommend them. Once the card was assembled, I stamped my greeting and embossed it in gold that added it to the card front.

FYI, This Eden’s Garden Collection! is only available to purchase between November 2, 2021- January 3, 2022 or while supplies last. From previous specials like this, I know they will sell out quickly.

I cannot wait to use the beautiful and detailed dies from this set, using my adhesive sheets again and will post those cards on another day.
