If you haven’t seen these lovely dies, you are missing out. The Elegant Border dies will not be found in any catalogue so don’t bother looking. These dies are part of the Online Exclusives products so you can only see them online. The Elegant Border dies (#161593) are four stand alone dies and are not part of any stamp bundle. They can be used over and over again to create elegant wedding or birthday cards or simpler everyday cards. The choice is yours. The sample below shows the various edging each die creates. Just run the through you Cutting and Embossing machine then use your Take Your Pick Tool or brush to help remove all the little bits. It’s so easy.
So today, I want to show you cards I made using each of the four dies. Each die is 6″ in length so you will have more than enough to use on your cards. Each card is unique and you will see how I have incorporated a number of stamp sets to create these cards. I love how all the various colours coordinate so well, It doesn’t matter if it’s designer series paper, card stock, ink or ribbons. They all coordinate perfectly and I love that about Stampin’ Up! products.
For this card, I used the Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Sale-a-bration promotion. I received this paper FREE from a recent purchase and I am loving the colours of this package.
I used a piece of the DSP and adhered it to some Basic White for stability. I then ran it through the cutting and embossing machine several times so I could get a good cut, since it’s a bit thicker. I love the decorative border.
After stamping my greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set, I adhered the paper to the card front. I then stamped and cut out two daisies and a white branch from the Cheerful Daisies stamp/die bundle .I used the Coordinating Lost Lagoon ink and used my sponge daubers in the centre of the flowers before adhering to the card front.
For this card, I used Moody Mauve card stock as my card base. I embossed the white card front with my Quatrefoil embossing folder to get the background design then placed the Elegant Border die at a diagonal and cut it out.
For my greeting, I used the Everyday Label and cut out two labels, one in Basic White and one in Moody Mauve.
After stamping my greeting from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. I cut the Moody Mauve in have vertically and adhered each end to the back of the Basic White label to extend the look of the label. I also added a bit of the coordinating ribbon to the back as well.
For this card, I used the Highland Heather Card Stock. My card front was stamped with the lovely Dainty Delight Floral image. I coloured it with Highland Heather, Blackberry Bliss and Soft Seafoam blender pens.
For the side piece I cut a piece of Coordinating card stock and embossed it with the crosshatch design from the Basics 3D package which is a set of 3 embossing folders. I have to say they are my fast becoming my favour folders.
Instead of making the border on the outside, I placed it inward on my card front. I love the look, casual but detailed. It sort of looks like a curtain pulled open to reveal the flower.
The label was die cut from the Cheerful Daisies bundle and the greeting is from the Circle Sayings stamp set and just for fun, I added some ribbon to the back for a little added detail.
I love how I can use different stamps and dies to create a single card. It makes them so versatile, don’t you think?
For my last card, I made my card base Petal Pink with the Boho Blue matting. Like my first card I used some Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration promotion. This package was also FREE from a recent purchase and is called Flight and Airy. This paper is so pretty, I just love it.
So for this card, I placed the DSP the same size as a piece of Basic White Card stock, then ran them both through my cutting and embossing machine. Once they were both cut out, placed the border die over the DSP portion of the cut out and drew a pencil line around it. I then cut off the Border cut out. Because it was done at the same time, I knew when I adhered the DSP to the Basic White card stock it would line up perfectly.
I then used a strip of both the Boho Blue and Basic White for my greeting. I stamped my greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set. The cute little birds were fuzzy cut from a different piece of DSP from the same package.
So as you can see, this one set of Elegant Border Dies can give you a variety of card ideas and once you start playing with them, I am sure you can come up with even more ideas. Although this card isn’t finished, I also made up the card below for yet another look. This card is also using the Moody Mauve paper & ribbon.
Below are the products I used to create these cards. If you are planning on making a purchase during Sale-a-bration, please consider this Online Exclusive die set. The Elegant Border dies can be used over and over again with many possibilities.
