I first received this set while attending Onstage in Houston. I was pleased with it then and as well as now. Sadly it got put aside in favour of other products and I didn’t really show it off. So today I would like to show you one of the cards I made recently using the Spotlight on Nature bundle. This set is lovely and I can see it would be perfect to decorate cards, gift tags or gift boxes.
For my card I used the lovely Basic Beige Card stock. This is a brand new colour that was introduced when the new catalogue came out on May 1. It falls into the Neutrals collection of products and includes card stock, ink pad and coordinating ribbon. As you can see it fits nicely in between the colours Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake.
So to make this card, I first used a piece of card stock and embossed it with a retired embossing folder to give it some texture. I then die cut three different sized circles from the bundle, using the same pattern around the edges for consistency. There are three different borders around the circles to suit your projects. After stamping my images and my greeting, I coloured my images using various Stampin’ Blends. I adhered the largest circle so it’s lies flat and added dimensional’s to the two smaller ones. To Finish off my card I added a few of the 2025-2026 In Color shimmer gems which are fast becoming a favourite.
Although not pictured, I also stamped and coloured the butterfly image on a piece of base white card stock for the inside of my card and for my envelope, I stamped the floral image on the front and the butterfly image on the flap of the envelope in the back, just for some added interest.
The tools we use!
The tools we use when crafting can be confusing for someone new to crafting so going forward, so I will be talking about the tools we use in the hopes it makes it easier for you.
Today, I would like to talk about blocks
If you have done any crafting at all, you know that each stamp set requires an acrylic block to put it on before you ink it up and stamp. Some stamps (usually older ones) are used to be mounted on wood blocks, which make stamping hard to position so acrylic blocks are the perfect solution.
Stampin’ Up! offers a variety of shapes and sizes and there are times when you will need different sized blocks so it’s good to have a selection in your craft supplies. I know there are other brands of blocks out there which are cheaper and thinner. However, if you invest in a good block, you won’t regret it.
Stampin’ Up! has 6 different blocks to choose from and you can purchase them separately or the entire set of blocks at once. Each block is approximately 3/4″ high with grooves all around the outside for easy finger gripping and I have to say, they just feel solid to hold so your hand doesn’t slip.
Blocks come in the following sizes;
Clear Block B: 1-5/8″ x 1-15/16″ (4.1 x 4.9 cm)
Clear Block C: 2″ x 2-1/4″ (5.1 x 5.7 cm)
Clear Block D: 2-7/8″ x 2-11/16″ (7.3 x 6.8 cm)
Clear Block E: 3-7/16″ x 4-7/16″ (8.7 x 11.3 cm)
Clear Block F: 4-7/8″ x 6″ (12.4 x 15.2 cm)
Clear Block H: 4-7/16″ x 1-5/8″ (11.3 x 4.1 cm)
Each block also has the letter etched onto the side groove for easy reference.
Although I have all 6 blocks in my stash, I also have several extra D & E blocks because those are the ones I use most often. I don’t want to be constantly removing one stamp for another when I am working on projects so having extras solves that problem. If you are looking to expand your crafting tool supplies, I recommend having a selection of blocks to meet all your stamping needs. You won’t regret it.
