Baby Cards

Well I decided to make a couple of baby cards today to round out my stash of cards. You never know when you are going to need a card so it’s always better to have one on hand for all scenarios.

I made these cute cards for little girls so I guess I’ll have to make some boy cards now as well. Anyways, these cards were made with card stock cut at 4 1/4 x 11. I scored the card at 5 1/5 on the long side for a clean fold. For both types of cards, the process is similar.

For the dress – Before doing anything, I cut a piece of the DSP for the pattern of the dress and adhered it to the front of the card. I then used my 2″ punch to cut the neckline. I cut the arms at 1 1/2″ down and 3/4″ inward then cut from there to the bottom corner of the card. The neckline is made from a pearlized doily which makes for a cute neckline then added the ribbon to the front of the dress…. just to make it pretty. I haven’t decided yet but I may change the hem of the dress to a scalloped edge.

For the Onsie – This was also going to be a dress as well but then decided to try something different. I embossed the front of the card to add some interest before cutting the neckline and arms as per the dress above. To make it look more like a onsie, the angle of cut from the arm to the corner was shortened by about 1 1/2″ just to make it wider. I then used my 2″ punch to make the leg openings. 1 1/2 ” from the bottom and 1″ in from the side. ribbon was added to this card as well and I am pretty sure I will add something to the neckline for this card as well.

I hope you like them.

Wedding Celebrations

Simple Celebrations are sometimes the best kind

I love making cards to celebrate the milestones in our lives. Every milestone makes for fond memories and makes us who we are today. One such milestone is coming up for my niece and her soon to be husband. So, of course, I had to make a card. I hope she likes it.

New Year, new craft choice

Paper Pumpkin is a great way to try a new craft. Each month you will receive a little red box with everything you need to create cards or a unique project along with complete instructions. It’s always a surprise which you will open with anticipation just like a Christmas present. My mother is in her 80’s and has put this kit together numerous times.

If you want to try it just for a few months, then a prepaid subscription might be your best choice.   This allows you to pay for 3, 6 or 12 months. You can also purchase a kit as a gift for someone.   Any prepaid subscriptions also earns you free sale-a-bration rewards such as a free stamp set to build up crafting supply.

Simple is best

We don’t take enough time out of our busy days to make people feel appreciated for assisting us with our workload. Whether it be personal or work related, a quick thanks, as we rush off, isn’t always enough. Sending or presenting someone with a card, even days later, just reinforces the fact that you appreciate what they have done for you.

A simple card without all the fuss works best. I made these cards by scoring some detailed lines for texture and effect. I then added some washi tape as a pattern and finally stamped a simple sentiment. Thank You, Congratulation or From the Heart. The insides were left blank so you can put your own spin on the message.

If you want to know more about how you can create or order a simple card, please contact me. I can show you how to make cards by hosting card making classes or I can create a set of simple cards for you to have on hand for your customers or your co-workers.
