One Sheet Wonder

I love the one sheet wonder way of card making or at least the idea of it since I hadn’t tried it before now. Basically you take a 12 x 12 piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and cut it up in various ways to make approximately nine cards. There are numerous ways of doing this but after seeing Gez Carpenter’s designs I decided to make my own version.

Well I had some Christmas paper to use up so decided to follow the concept and created 12 cards as shown below. I cut out 12 4″ x 4″ squares of DSP and matted them. I then took 12 blank cards made from thick white card stock and placed them in various locations on the front of the cards. I then embellished them with what I had on hand to “fancy” them up.

I used the Snow is Glistening stamp set from Stampin’ Up! to create the sentiment which is the same on each card. I was able to create six portrait and six landscape cards with this method and each one is unique. Time wise, it only took me a couple of hours to have a dozen cards made up to give to friends and bring a smile to their face.

My Take on a one sheet wonder template

Thank you Card

We don’t often say thank you enough to the people we deal with every day.  It really takes no effort at all and most of the time, a quick “thanks” is enough.  However taking a moment to present a card means just a little bit more.

I made this card very quickly and presented it to my delivery guy.  I don’t know him but I do know that he is very busy at this time of year with all the online shopping going on and I wanted to just acknowledge the work he does.  I know it’s his job but sometimes appreciating a job well done goes a long way.  He was quite surprised when I presented him with this card.  Making him smile also makes me smile.  So now, we are both happy!

Christmas/gift card

I just filled an order for nine Christmas/gift cards and wanted to share.  I love this particular card and quite pleased with how it turned out.

I used the Stampin’ Up! stamp set Winter Woods to stamp the trees in Smokey Slate ink for that misty look in the background then sponged a little to create snow and shading.  I then stamped the Evergreen tree with Shaded Spruce ink to make it POP!  The sentiment inside the card was from the Blended Seasons stamp set and was also stamped in the same colour.  Inside I created a pocket for the gift card with “Thank You” stamped in the Smokey Slate ink to match the paper pocket which also matches the matting on the front of the card.
